Education Associate

Summary
The Mizel Museum Education Associate plays an essential role in the education department, working with a dynamic team in its program outreach, implementation and administration. The education associate will teach key Mizel Museum cultural diversity and social justice themed programs at area schools, and also drive networking and outreach between the museum and schools.

Essential Functions
• Delivers Mizel Museum educational programs in schools, engaging students in current events related content—combating racism, celebrating diversity, promoting social justice
• Guides school groups through the museum’s core exhibit, with an emphasis on diversity and social justice themes
• Networks with schools and organizations to promote Mizel Museum programs
• Conducts direct phone and in-person outreach to school contacts in order to book Mizel Museum programs
• Represents the Mizel Museum on various community boards and at relevant conferences and networking events
• Works with education team to identify new and improved outreach methods
• Conducts research and assists developing program curricula and teacher resources
• Assists with the museum’s administrative functions as needed

Skills and Qualifications
• College degree required
• 1 year of experience working with students in some capacity
• Passion for and experience in diversity, inclusion, social justice and current events
• Flexible and capable of easily shifting between desk and classroom responsibilities
• Enthusiastic about delivering museum education to K-8 students
• Highly motivated, positive, flexible, team player is a must
• Willingness to travel throughout the Denver Metro area with reliable transportation

Hours and Salary
Salary is commensurate with experience. The candidate must be available Monday-Friday and may be required to work some evenings and weekends to support program activities
